  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • PLEASE NOTE: This review was for a placement at Merrill Lynch prior to Merrill Lynch merging with Bank of America to become Bank of America Merrill Lynch. (The RateMyPlacement Team) I thoroughly enjoyed the experience although it was long hours.

  • Some colleagues were more appreciative than others.

  • Good direction given from the desk.

  • Varied across the three desk placements.

  • Again, varied across the desk placements. Given more than expected responsibility.

  • I believe I learned a lot which will help me in my future career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Good atmosphere but tense due to turbulant martket conditions.

  • HR did a good job in organising the scheme. Still plenty of room for improvement.

  • Seminars and lectures were organised for the interns - all very interesting.

  • Subsidised Canteen

  • Merrill Lynch is not in a strong financial position. This was reflected in head-count.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I made some really good friends.

  • Socialising was expensive in the area.

  • Nice bars open late, but all died around 9pm.

  • A few interns got involved in sport but that was about it.
