    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found this placement to be very interesting as well as intellectually stimulating. It fuelled my curiosity surrounding mixed reality and the future of virtual reality. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about this fast paced technology and the rapid advancements it is making. I also got to discover other technologies surrounding this.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued: my opinions were always valued and considered, and I was trusted as if I had been working there a long time. I was taught a lot about everything and my curiosity was constantly stimulated. I felt as though I was listened to and valued throughout the entire placement and would recommend it to anyone.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was taught everything I needed to know and more. I was introduced to virtual reality and then from there was able to learn so much in such a short space of time. I was offered support when I didn't understand something and then challenged further to stretch my knowledge and take on a whole lot more.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was studying graphic design and therefore I was able to incorporate this alternate media into my work. I was able to use current developing technology in my work whereas before I would just use pen and paper. I had now developed my work and shown a huge understanding in an alternate field.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was very well structured. I was given a plan of the week on day one and told start and finish times that suited me. It was laid back but also challenging- despite not being an early start there was a lot to get done in a short space of time. This meant that I was being challenged and stretched which proved to be very beneficial for my time management and deadlines during study.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The placement was fun and laid back at moments but challenging and demanding at other times. I could take breaks to play with the equipment and further my knowledge and then use this knowledge to impress clients and sell the product to them. This proved to be an appropriate atmosphere - it meant I was relaxed but also maintained a professional appearance.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given a whole day to fully immerse myself in the technology available within the company and learn all about how it works and how it has been developed. I was shown what projects the company was involved in and how they work in collaboration with other companies to make things . This meant that I felt very prepared for my placement.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It showed me how demanding a full time job can be and the challenged that come with it. It showed me the developments of technology and how that can benefit a company. It taught me social skills within the workplace. I was given the opportunity to attend a networking convention which allowed me to make connections with others in the same industry that I wanted to enter.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company had several beliefs that are the basis of what they believe in and the basis of what the company is today. These beliefs and motivations led to a very positive and close knit work unit that were each others strengths. The company were very fun to work with and allowed every opinion to be valued and considered.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day allowed me to realise which field of work I wished to enter into. I wanted to remain within the design and media industry and due to attending a networking convention at brick lane I was now connected to lots of people within the industry. Although the work was not what I was truly interested in I was thoroughly invested in my role and truly enjoyed it.
