About You
I have thoroughly enjoyed the placement scheme. Everybody at the firm has been approachable and supportive. The tasks I have been given have been challenging but very engaging and have enabled me to experience the real work that takes place in a commercial law firm. There have been several really enjoyable and beneficial social events to speak to partners, associates and trainees at the firm from various departments. These events have helped me to learn about multiple departments and the interconnections between different areas of commercial law. The presentation we had to prepare for was a useful activity but the question seemed very broad and I think that being the presentation information and doing it on the same day would be more beneficial.
I have felt valued throughout my placement and have been given quality work and independence. At the same time I have been made to really feel like a part of the firm already and have been given advice or support when needed. The current trainees have been particularly accomodating and have shared their experiences with all of the placement attendees. My own supervisor has been very helpful and helped me to settle in right from the first day of the placement.
Lots of support was provided.
I have already graduated but the skills I have developed will certainly be useful in my future career. The information I have received will be of great assistance on future placements and will be helpful in the early stages of my career as I have gained a practical understanding of commercial legal work.
The Company
Other than the first day, which was unfortunately affected by weather conditions it has been well structured with lots of tasks and social events organised thorughout the week.
The general atmosphere was friendly, positive and upbeat despite many of the staff having tight deadlines and busy schedules.
Only a 1 week placement so there hasn't been much time for this but for a short period of time there has been a reasonable amount of time invested in providing those on placement with devlopment of e.g. research skills.
To a great extent. The opportunity to spend time in a department and to carry out actual work has been very helpful in that regard.
A great deal.
Overall it was extremely valuable and confirmed my choice of career path.
Everything Else
I was paid well for taking part in the placement.
Yes, there were multiple pre-arranged networking events organised specifically for the benefit of those on the scheme.
Very useful and relatively informal. Everybody was happy to answer questions and talk about their role and their work.
Yes we were informed about these at the netwroking events and by the current trainees.
Yes, definitely.
