The Role
The role itself wasn't for me, but I really enjoyed working within the CRM team. They were a great bunch of people. There was flexibility in terms of workload and I was able to do more of the things I enjoyed.
The team are a massive asset to Superdrug. I loved working alongside them. I was respected by them all and was able to showcase my work.
I sat next to my manager and if I needed help with any tasks, he or one of the other guys in the team was more than happy to help.
This placement wasn't full on if anything there probably was more I could have taken on. But I was encouraged to work on my own projects and ideas where applicable.
This I would say could be better, I did use to get the majority of work checked, however, this was primarily because it was being sent externally or to senior personnel i.e. my work being used by the business so having it checked was good in my opinion.
Immensivvely so, I learnt so much about data analysis when working with the guys in the team. Also, it hugely helped in terms of time management, prioritisation, written communication and problem-solving capabilities.
The Company
It was great - the interns were always included in all of the out of work activities. We were invited to the xmas parties and to work drinks, people leaving drinks. You never felt like you were the "intern" but part of the team.
It wasn’t structured as such, as the work came into the inbox from suppliers/internal buyers it was distributed amongst the 4 (including me) members of the insight team in our Tuesday morning meeting. It was very varied in terms of projects, that I took on and all the "admin" and "HR" type things were really well organised.
There were a number of training courses you could sign yourself up for as a when you wanted.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I hope to back in the future!
The Culture
There was one other intern there but other than that I just socialised with the wider team.
I didn't actually live in Croydon (where the head office is) but I lived in London which was more expensive. Social life in London is great because transport links it made it super easy to travel home. It is expensive but there were places where you could go and not pay extortionate prices i.e. not on the king's road.
I never really went out in Croydon area.
Yes heaps!
