This programme offers the opportunity to develop new skills and network with a vast array of people. I was working on meaningful projects and this was a great experience to add to my CV.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt well valued by my colleagues throughout my time here. I was introduced to the whole team on my first day and everyone was very welcoming. My team members would take time to explain the projects they were working on and would allow me to shadow interesting work. My ideas and input was used and valued by the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt well supported throughout my internship at PwC. I was appointed a buddy on the first day, who provided guidance throughout the programme. During the induction period that ran throughout the first week, I was introduced to the IT system and taught how to use the software that PwC uses. During this first week, we were also given an overview of the work we would be carrying out. My manager was very supportive and we had frequent 1:1s to review my work.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Although the summer months tend to be a quieter period, I found that I also had enough work to be doing and was never bored during my time at PwC. My typical daily hours were 9 am until 5:30 pm, however there was the occasional evening where I would work slightly later.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt that I was given a good level of responsibility and I was pleasantly surprised with how much my colleagues and fellow team members trusted me with project work. Whilst I granted a large amount of autonomy, at the same time I always felt that I could turn to my line manager for support and guidance.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Studying business management, having real exposure to a business environment will inevitably benefit my university studies. Furthermore, I developed a vast range of transferable skills, namely analytical skills, networking and communication skills and presentation skills. In addition to this, I greatly developed my confidence during my time spent at PwC and this will benefit me when applying to any future roles.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the office! I found everyone to be very sociable and there was lots of social events to get involved in after work, with most people going for drinks on Thursday and Friday evenings. I found it easy to chat to people in communal areas and there was the great addition of a ping pong table, which made break times enjoyable and social!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found the internship to be well organised, which was to be expected considering the long-standing nature of the programme. The induction during the first week ensured we were well prepared for joining our teams and I found the induction to be very beneficial to my development. Throughout the internship, there were a number of skills sessions and networking events organised for us to get the most out of the placement.

  • Future job prospects at PwC are very good and there is a high conversion rate of job after completing the summer internship. The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I found there to be a really great social scene at PwC, amongst the interns and permanent employees alike! We would very often go out for drinks in the evenings after work, which was a nice way to get to know employees out of a work context and network more informally.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The living cost associated with London, but this was always to be expected! However, I managed to find accommodation at a reasonable price and I was provided with a generous intern salary, so I never felt that I really struggled financially at any point. The cost of socialising is also quite high, but it is possible to find bars nearby doing good offers on drinks, food etc.

    3/5

  • Based in Central London so nightlife was great!
