Insight Day in Accounting Review

The insight day held at BDO was very enjoyable as it had a very relaxed feel to it and we were encouraged to ask any questions whenever we had a question. There was an extremely friendly and welcoming culture at BDO in London.

As this was an insight day, it would be unfair to judge this question based on only a days experience. However, from speaking to interns that had been there for a longer term, they conveyed that they felt extremely valued from day 1 and this quickly increased as their time went on.

Very supportive employees guided us throughout the day to help us decide what area within accounting we would be most suited for. During lunch, the current employees also gave us their personal tips on how to succeed in accounting and at BDO in particular.

Although this was only a day, the skills I had learnt in the short space of time I was there assisted me tremendously in my coursework. Skills such as data analysis and critical thinking helped me achieve a 1st in this particular piece of coursework.

Very well organised, with travel information given well in advance and the day running extremely smoothly.

The atmosphere is the one thing that impressed me the most about BDO. I have never met a group of people more welcoming and helpful during my university recruitment experience so far. I can definitely see myself applying for a grad role their in the future.

It is difficult to judge this from just a day at the company, but it can easily be seen around the office that employees tended to support each other on a day-to-day basis.

During the day, current interns ran presentations which showed us real-life examples of what we'd be doing if we were accepted onto a full time role.

The day began and ended on company culture and the values that are held at BDO. This is therefore something that is of great importance to BDO and something they are very proud of.

The overall experience I had was fantastic, however, it made me realise that a career in accounting and auditing is probably not one for me.

As I traveled from quite far to attend this day, I feel that travel expenses should have perhaps been covered.

The whole day was structured around networking and talking to other employees

BDO employees frequently attend client drinks or client-sponsored events

BDO run different networks such as sports-related networks, a womens network etc. for employees to get involved in. They also help clients with any events they may have going on as well.
