    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed this internship. I had such a good time, really liked the team and felt welcome. I felt like I could make a valuable contribution to the marketing team. I also learnt a lot! Sometimes, however, the work could get quite tiring, since it was mostly the same for two months.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Maybe at the beginning a bit less, but as soon as we got to know each other, I felt like my opinion was being valued - by the whole team. People asked me for my opinion and advice, and I was more than happy to contribute and felt comfortable stating my opinions - even if I didn't agree.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was sitting in a room with my boss, which meant that I could ask him a question any time I needed to. My other colleagues were also more than happy to help me out in case I needed it. In general, I was working closely together with the project manager for the new website construction - he was my first contact for any issues.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was always something to do for me, but they gave me a lot of freedom on what, when and how to do things. I had a clear idea of the things that had to be done and was then using the time I had to decide on priorities and work according to them. However, there was probably enough work for me left to stay for another 2 months at the end!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Just the right amount I would say. I could work individually on the website, take some decisions and contribute to the progress of the project. I could also choose how to prioritize and divide my workload. However, if I was not sure about something or had any issues, I could always ask the project manager for help!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • First of all, I learnt how to use the software Typo3, which I'm sure will come handy in the future. More important than that, however, I learnt a lot about how a Marketing department works and the functions within it. I also learnt a lot about working in a team and so on. The skills and knowledge acquired helped me to decide on a future career path and will definitely be of use for me in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Overall, everyone was really lovely and we had a good time. I got to know my colleagues well and we had some nice lunch breaks and coffee breaks together. The convenient size of the offices also contributed to the good atmosphere. There were a few tensions within the team, but I suppose that's normal. I had a good time and enjoyed working with my colleagues.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was little organization, but I didn't think it was necessary. I was just told what has to be done and then I was thrown right in it. While at the beginning, I maybe felt a little lost and overwhelmed, I soon understood what was expected and what to do. I integrated into the team, and from then on, the organization didn't really matter.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They used me as a resource and didn't put much effort into development or training. They gave me a quick presentation on the first day and then I just started working. I assume that's normal though, the company is small and I was there to help. I didn't mind much at all!

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • While I really liked the team, the atmosphere in the office and the company, I don't think I want to work in B2B in the future. I see my future in marketing, but more in B2C. However, I would definitely not completely exclude future job opportunities with ACO, since I had a really good time working for them this summer.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone was really nice, but there was only one other intern. This means that there was no social scene among students. However, all the colleagues were lovely and we always had lunch together and got to know each other quite well. I loved the team and the atmosphere in the office.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I live really close to ACO, so I could stay at home. Unfortunately, the offices are hard to reach without a car, but that was no problem for me. This also means that it is hard to find a place close to the offices. There is no cafeteria, only an ALDI a 10 minute walk away.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The offices are in the middle of nowhere, so there was no night life.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • During my stay, they didn't have any activities. However, I know that usually they have some stuff such as BBQs, Christmas parties and running going on. It didn't really influence my experience though. I had a very good time and also the opportunity to get to know my colleagues during breaks
