The Role
I really enjoyed my work placement.
I did feel valued by my colleagues.
I was given support and guidance by management.
I had the perfect balance of business on a daily basis.
I felt responsible for the job I needed to do.
The skills I gained such as communication and commercial awareness and one's that will stay with me for life.
The Company
I loved the atmosphere at ASOS. There was perfect balance between work and play in my opinion. Teams were encouraged to complete tasks to strict deadlines and there was lots of work to be done in office hours, however Friday beers and the summer/Christmas party made all the hard work so worthwhile.
ASOS had clearly welcomed interns before as the whole programme was planned perfectly. I felt really welcome on my first day, with a whole session planned out on welcoming us to the company, including a speech from the People Team exec. I also enjoyed the monthly sessions held by [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] which helped us develop skills such as prioritising workload.
A training timetable was provided at the start of my internship, with generic training being done in a classroom and department specific training being done on the job at my desk. Some training was also done electronically which I found helpful as allowed me to stay with my team and socialise in addition to learning.

I have been offered a permanent position at ASOS as a Merchandising Administrative Assistant at Level 1 which also means a promotion. This means that future employment prospects within this organisation are high. I am so pleased to have been offered a job as I so enjoyed my placement year.
The Culture
As previously mentioned, there was a perfect work-life balance. Social activities included; an afternoon of Rounders in Regents Park in the summer months, Summer/Christmas parties and Friday Beers on the last Friday of every month. It's really great to see so many employees take part and get to know each other!
The ASOS office is in Camden so a popular destination in London. This did make eating/drinking out slightly expensive however most pubs are aware that the ASOS head office is in the vicinity so offer deals to staff members. I did not live in the area; I commuted in each morning from Hertfordshire.
As previously mentioned, Camden is a popular destination in London which meant the night life was busy. The majority of the area is cocktail bars with a couple of pubs and one club. The busiest nights in London are Thursday and Friday, which mainly feature people going for drinks after work.
There were too many opportunities to get involved in with ASOS, including a netball team, 'a week away' (volunteering), and the walk for water (fundraising). This encouraged all of ASOS to interact and make the company office feel a lot smaller and more connected. I was lucky enough to take part in a couple of these activities.
