    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a great year working in the ASOS Design Team, I learnt so much and felt really part of the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Extremely valued, you get so much responsibility, you never get treated like ‘an intern’ like many companies would. Everybody in the team is so welcoming and you get to join in with everything. I have made so many friends and I can’t wait to return and work with everybody!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given constant support, I had regular reviews and catch ups with my manager to discuss any issues or progress I wanted to make. I could set myself targets and get experience in any certain areas I wanted to.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In general, I was very busy!!! Most days are crazy at ASOS but definitely in a good way! There is always something to do and somebody to help and it’s great because you learnt a lot working with different people.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility and it was great. It made me feel more valued, I was encouraged to design my own pieces for ASOS Made in Kenya and for the press day. You are always pushed to succeed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt so much at ASOS, you see the product cycle from being designed all the way through to being on site and it’s amazing to see, especially when some of them of your own designs! Everything that I learnt is currenly helping me with me final year at university.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is happy, it’s always fun. There’s always events going on, there is a crazy Christmas and summer party!!! Everyone works together as a team and has a great time.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Great set up - we had intern sessions every month to help us in terms of everything we were doing - presenting etc.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt like I was invested in highly being given constant support by not only the design team but the people team also. There was always somebody to help no matter what and I feel like I have developed in so many ways since I began working at ASOS.

  • I will be returning to ASOS next August and I can’t wait!

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Friday drinks every week and the individual teams tend to go for lunch or drinks regularly!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Veryyyyy expensive in terms of living in London etc, the cost of travel, rent, bills etc! But so worth it.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Camden has great nightlife and it’s only a short tube from Shoreditch or Central!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There’s always opportunities available, especially living in London with so much to do.
