    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really struggled with the lack of direction. My line manager was only in the office once a week, as well as the others in my team which meant I was on my own for a lot of the time. The tasks I was doing were not particularly enjoyable, engaging or challenging.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues (especially the grad on my team) were really lovely to me and made me feel welcomed.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager only had one meeting with me throughout the 10 weeks. Most of my contact and advice came from the graduate on my team.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Do to the amount of training, I did manage to fill my days but there were a few times where I didn't have anything to do and no one was answering my emails. Due to a restructure announced shortly after my arrival, the whole department was thrown so I think my manager struggled to find tasks to give me.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was in charge of creating a booklet to be shared with the whole business unit

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I didn't learn much and anything I did isn't particularly relevant

    1/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A lot of my floor were agile workers which meant they worked from home so it was quiet a lot of the time. The canteen was really good and there were nice working spaces. My view was also amazing.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I feel Lloyds took on too many interns and had no real direction for them. The charity challenge was set up well and I enjoyed that the most out of everything.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had some online training modules but I wouldn't say there was a great deal of investment. The first day of the internship was a day of training and activities which was useful for making friends.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I had an interview for the grad scheme at the end of my internship. I felt the whole process was terrible as no one informed me that in this interview I would be treated exactly the same as anyone applying for the grad scheme not having done the internship. The questions were generic and I had no chance to talk about anything I had done all summer and as a result I didn't get onto the scheme despite everyone saying I had done really well during my 10 weeks. This was the same with the friends I had met on the internship as they also felt it was unfair and not representative of our hard work and commitment.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Not great although I did meet some lovely people.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London- no more needs to be said

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London- again no more needs to be said

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No activities
