    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was very enjoyable and I was given a lot of job responsibility from the first day. I loved planning events on campus for Danone and working with such an excellent team. I also felt that this position was an excellent use of my time, and contributed a lot to my CV.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt my colleagues valued me and my work, as they trusted me to get things done and organise my own events. They also asked for my advice, and gave very positive feedback on our teams’ work. I felt my work as a Danone CBM contributed to the success of the company.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors were very quick to respond whenever I had a question, and I felt comfortable asking them questions. They also helped moving our projects forwards, whilst providing constructive criticism in how to effectively run events within my university. I also appreciated them taking the time to look into my insights profile and communicating with me in a way that I would respond well to.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My projects did not require me to be very busy on a daily basis, but I liked this aspect of the placement, as Danone were considerate of my busy timetable as both an employee and a university student. However, the work that I did do developed my skill set and I felt that the majority of my time working for Danone was well spent.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, as I had to organise, advertise and run events for Danone at my university. They also gave me the opportunity to take on more reponsbility if I wanted to, takinh on more events and different projects. This aspect was very appealing to me as it allowed me to balance the position with my academic work.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As my degree is in English, I don't feel the skills developed from my role as Campus Brand Manager contributed greatly to my degree, as it is more research and written communication focused. However, beyond my studies, the role helped to develop my confidence and my verbal communication skills, as well as my creative and organisational skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was very inspiring, as everyone I met was very passionate and energetic. It was great seeing people hard at work within a calm and friendly environment. The emphasis on happiness and health was clear to see within the office, with employees enjoying free waters/yoghurts and playing table tennis during their lunch breaks.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well organised and clearly thought out. The insight week beforehand gave all the CBMs a clear idea of what was expected and helped us understand the company ethos. We were also emailed all the information from the insight week afterwards, which helped us stay on track as we went into the role.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt Danone definitely invested in our personal development, as they took the time to learn more about us and give us an insights profile. They also gave us the opportunity to be independent and develop our skills. They also invested in all the CBMs by allowing us to skip sections of the grad scheme application process, which showed they valued us.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, they arranged for us all to stay in the same hotel during our insight week, so we could socialise after office hours. They also organised breaks within the day for us to chat, and get to know each other. We also had a lot of team building exercises, which really helped to bring the group together.
