The Role
Really enjoyed working at CrossCountry, the peoplw were great and the experience was wonderful.
I was treated with respect by all and felt that my contributions to the team were valued highly.
My manager was very good at offering advice and giving the occasional push when needed.
The work varied a lot; sopme days there would be little to do, others we would be inundated with work. Towards the end of the year it began to balance out a little more.
I was given responsibility over the leave of train crew, had i made a big mistake.. it could have led to the cancellation of a train and significant cost to the business. I feel that the responsibility given to me was fair and real.
The communication skills will be extremely useful to me throughout both education and working life. The Work I did during my placement year helped me to secure a job with Cross Country for my final year, and hopefully beyond that too.
The Company
The office atmosphere was mostly calm and relaxed, with ample opportunity to talk and have a laugh with colleagues whilst still getting work done.
The official placement structure was laid out at the beginning of the year. there were multiple meetings for updates and skills development throughout the year, as well as other opportunities to enhance my experience along the way.
I was trained to the point where I could essentially step into the role of a resource planner in a weeks time. they put the level of personal training into me that would be given to a full time member of the team. The placement coordinator also had a series of development programmes that added to the role.

Above 25 days holiday
I have already attained a part-time job within the business, and will pursue further options upon completing my studies.
The Culture
amongst the placement students, a few of us met up regularly to socialise. my team would go out on a weekly basis after work too.
I lived in student accommodation, so its difficult to compare with private rental.
Birmingham is pretty good for night life.
