    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I highly enjoyed the internship working with a good group of people in my small team within research

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given a few highly important reports and projects to run on my own and this created a bit of pressure but also a sense of value

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors were there at all times to provide insight and or give me the email contacts of people who could provide insight as I worked on the project

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I stayed on average half an hour later most days in order to get the work done and the only times I sat idle was during the initial set up period where I had a few IT issues that were resolved very slowly

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility working with two apprentices on a project almost independent from our supervisor. I was also brought in on all talks with possible suppliers and felt that my opinions were regarded highly throughout the placement

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am now doing my dissertation with JLR as the industrial liaison and would have absolutely no idea about the field of research I am going into if not for this placement

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was very relaxed and sociable however everyone had strict deadlines and so there was an ever-present seriousness element

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My initial targets were extremely open-ended when I arrived but within the first 10 days these were narrowed down to fit my preferences and where I would be of most use once my supervisor understood who I was and what I was capable of

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company had many training opportunities available however the higher level ones were sometimes only available to full year placements and I also didn't have time to focus on additional training outside of my project

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If I wasn't planning on starting my own company after university I would be back in a heartbeat. I was offered the graduate position during my placement, however, am most probably going to have to decline it.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a cricket league that I played in and also often went out for dinner and drinks with my colleagues

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Depending on if you were living in Coventry or Leamington Spa the price differed with Coventry being fairly well priced and Leamington rather expensive

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was pretty reasonable due to the large number of interns who all went out on Fridays together

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there were a few sport leagues

    4/5
