    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • The day as a whole was a very useful experience, allowing me to gain much more of an understanding of the accountancy industry. The structure of the day was very well thought out, providing us with all the information we would need and plenty of opportunities to ask further questions.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?

    • Despite only spending a day at BDO, it was a very welcoming environment which was down to the friendliness of the staff. Devoting time to get to know each student was a nice personal aspect, as I felt BDO were keen to find out about our interests as much as we were keen to find out about theirs.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?

    • A very useful part of the day was receiving advice on the application process, the provision of example questions and a run through of the process gave a detailed insight into what to expect.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I will use the information I received to assist in my job applications, and also gaining an insight into a successful business environment will make me feel more at ease when progressing from my degree to a job.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • The structure of the day was very well thought out, offering an informative and enjoyable insight into BDO. There was plenty of opportunities to ask questions, find out more about the company from current staff and interact with fellow students who are going through the same recruitment process.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?

    • Despite the sense of the formal working environment, I was made to feel comfortable and group activities such as 'ice breakers' and conducting 'PEST analysis' instantly made group interaction easy.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?

    • Receiving talks from current staff gave a clear insight into what BDO has to offer, whether that be in a working environment or social activities. Talking to a range of professions from school leavers up to management roles, you could really see the opportunity for development within the firm.

    • I was able to confirm my interest in an accountancy career and even pinpoint the areas I am most interested in.

    • The opportunity to meet and talk to staff over lunch was a valuable experience in gaining a real insight into BDO and a career in accounatncy.
