The Role
My placement at Goldman Sachs was very rewarding and interesting. I developed various skills, increased my knowledge and built great relationships.
I felt extremely valued by my team members and this was reflective in both my feedback and the responsibility given to me over time.
I was given a lot of guidance by my team and project managers whilst still given the opportunity to use my own initiative.
I was very busy most of the time. When I was in between projects I had adhoc tasks to work on or I supported other sub teams.
I was treated as a full time employee and was given quite a lot of responsibility from the start of my placement which continued to increase over the year. I had the opportunity to lead meetings with senior management, took ownership of different project areas and much more. As my team members were very approachable and helpful I was able to develop skills and increase my knowledge quite quickly.
The skills I built such as communication, analytical, attention to detail and confidence will definitely help with my final year at university and my career.
The Company
People were lively, hard working and approachable.
The placement was very organised and I was given the opportunity to change teams.
I had a lot of training which was helpful including the GS university.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The firm has so many different opportunities including within the division
The Culture
We often organised social events as placement students and the team had some events as well.
It was expensive as I had never lived in London but in line with my expectations.
We were given the opportunity to participate in community work.
