    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very formative experience, with great exposure to a wide scope of tasks enabling to get a very good understanding of the job. A lot of training sessions from day 1 and throughout the internship that will be useful on a day-to-day basis. Great mentoring too, from junior to senior level team members.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Feedback on your work is regularly provided and review meetings during which you can share your impressions on the job, the tasks assigned and the team are scheduled. Colleagues really make you feel as if you were part of the team and you are more treated as an Analyst than an Intern.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Supervisors and management are very approachable and available for whatever problem or question you might have. Tasks are clearly explained and examples of expected outcome are given if needed. They are always willing to give advice and answer your questions on the tasks assigned, or on career related topics in general.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • 4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibilities given are very diverse: you work on various topics and for various clients. This will give you a good overview of the job when working full-time. If you perform well and ask for more technical tasks (valuation, etc.), the team will not hesitate to give you this type of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • You develop a lot of technical skills (corporate finance) and computer skills (Powerpoint, Excel, databases) that will be very useful when going back to school or in your future career. Training is focused on what you will use during the internship and you will learn how to use some tools and techniques to be more efficient on a daily basis.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly and supportive atmosphere. Everyone is willing to help and ready to answer your questions even if they are not part of your team. People are very approachable as you work in an open space with all the sector teams gathered together. You feel at ease to ask questions if any doubt on something.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was well organized with full week of training at the beginning and other short trainings on tools used during the internship. A lot of team building and personal development activities are also organized throughout the internship that will enable you to meet people and interns from other departments.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • This is a growing institution in Europe, willing to develop its activities and to attract a lot of new talents. Employment prospects are therefore very good in the near future. The internship is a good experience providing you with a good understanding of the job and the culture of the company in a short time period and it will result in a job offer if you perform well and work hard.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living is very high for a student as you must live near the workplace which is located in the city centre. Other "socialising" expense are high too, but this is common in this city. There are probably ways to reduce your housing expense if you look for a good deal well in advance.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company organizes a lot of activites outside the workplace: sports competitions, team building events. There are also organizations within the company scheduling events for each employee to get to know other people within the company or from other departments. Team drinks an dinners are also organized depending on the team where you are.
