    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the placement, with lots of opportunities to take responsibility, present in front of important figures in the business & a great business culture

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Due to their open door policy everyone knows everyone and I have never heard a bad word said about anyone

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers will guide you to the extent that you need to be guided. There is no micro managing, but also no lack of help. If you need help just ask and someone will always know the answer

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It depends what department you are based but some weeks are very busy but others are fairly quiet

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had lots of responsibility, with my own ad hoc projects every week and my own reports I had to complete. The more confident you become the more responsibility they will give you

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • TJX Europe has shown me the sheer amount of areas, departments and things needed to be considered when running a business. They have also improved my social skills and given me invaluable experience which I can talk about in many of my future roles in my career

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It is a very chill atmosphere. The dress code is extremely casual for an office, with dress down Fridays. There is also an expectation to be social with your colleagues and have regular catch ups to ensure you maintain your relationships. It can be daunting at first but everyone is really friendly

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • TJX Europe runs the placement extremely well, with several opportunities to meet managerial figures, trips to processing centres, regular catch ups on progress and clear ways to track your progress

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Everyone wants you to get the most out of your time at TJX Europe, so lots of assistance is available if needed. If you feel confident enough there are also plenty of opportunities to help develop you as a person. There are also sessions and workshops designed to help you as a person develop further

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If you perform well in your placement year there is plenty of space for you to come back as a graduate and TJX Europe wants as many of the placements to come back. Even if you don't come back to TJX, you will have a great CV to help get you into another great company.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene is pretty good, but it's honestly what you make of it. Some placements want to go out every week to the local pub, while others go out to a restaurant every once in a while. But with the large amount of people here, there will always be someone who fits your social scene

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost in general is quite expensive, due to being near London. House sharing is definitely recommended. There are cheaper places but if you want a nice place it will cost you more. Usually around £600 a month rent

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Watford is pretty decent for somewhere that is out of a major city. There are lots of bars and a few clubs, but if not you always have London on the train.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Watford doesn't have a large range of social clubs around the area. You will probably have to go to London for more activities, but there is a large park, cinema, decent shopping centre and a few theatres so if you look there will probably be something in Watford.

    3/5
