  • I had the most incredible year at Volkswagen Group UK. I never imagined that I would be able to learn and develop so much within a short space of time.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Within my role in the HR team I was doing a real job and I could really see the value that I was adding to my team. Everyone in the HR team was really friendly and supportive, there was never a stupid question and I felt like I was given the platform to develop and challenge.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had the best support network during my placement year. I had regular 121's with my manager in order to let her know my priorities for the week and any additional support I needed. My manager also gave me the opportunity to be involved within key projects outside of my role to ensure I got the most out my experience at VWG UK. Furthermore, I also had a graduate buddy and a mentor, which was great in order to get a different perspective on a specific project or to talk about future career plans.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • No two days were ever the same! Each week I had specific tasks that I had to complete however I was also kept busy with the exciting projects that were happening throughout my year.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • When I began my placement year at VWG UK I couldnt believe the at the level of responsibility and trust my manager gave me. I was able to manage independent projects, communciate with stakeholders at all different levels of the business and make key decisions that added value to VWG UK. It was really rewarding to have the opportunity to drive change and make a positive impact.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed both professionally and personally during my placement year at Volkswagen Group UK. These skills will equip me during my final year at university as I have had exposure to how a global company like Volkswagen Group operates.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Positive and friendly, everyone is approachable and wanting to support you get the very best of your year

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The induction process was an exciting and informative process. A couple months prior to starting the programme we were invited in for a familiarisation day so we could meet our peers and hear more from current undergraduates about the structure of the scheme. We also had a full day and half day induction to inform us of everything we needed to know about VWG and being an employee at VWG UK. The programme was well structured with key training programmes specifically for undergraduates in order to further develop. We also had the opportunity to attend 'spotlight sessions' in order to gain insight into different areas of the business.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As part of the undergraduate programme we had a structured training programme which covered everything from presentation skills and commercial awareness. I was able to learn alot and apply it within my role.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As part of progressing onto the graduate programme as undergraduates we were able to apply for a 'Golden Ticket' in order to fast track to the assessment centre. This is a great initiative as you are interviewed whilst still in role and know the outcome before finalising your placement year.
