    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was an extremely rewarding and educational experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Most people I came across were incredibly friendly and willing to provide help. Work completed was always met with positivity, and very constructive feedback was always given to ensure that projects and tasks felt worthwhile and helpful.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager dedicated a lot of time and energy to me and never refused to help with any problems or questions I had. She was an excellent point of contact to have.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a lot to do every day. The exception was during the period in which I was searching for a new desk. Due to the non-rotational structure of the internship meant that finding a new desk to join was a fairly difficult process. This period did, however, give the opportunity to exercise alternate skills such as leveraging your network to create new opportunities for yourself.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Without FCA certification there was limited value I could actually add as an intern, however, I gained exposure through shadowing and projects and occasionally got the opportunity to contribute to material that was presented directly to clients.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A great experience that truly highlights the qualities you need to excel in working life beyond university.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Excellent, everyone was extremely driven and seemed to love the team they were part of and what they were doing.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • No complaints, the programme was very well organised.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My manager in particular made sure that she was very invested when spending time with me, even prioritising mentoring and teaching me over other tasks that came up that I thought for sure would take priority over me.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • After experiencing the culture I can confidently say it's a firm I'm very keen to pursue a career in.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was often very tired after work and on weekends so didn't go out too much, but I did make some very good friends. The social events organised by the firm were also good fun.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in my sister's flat so managed to avoid paying rent for the summer. Around Canary Wharf places to go out for drinks are normally quite expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There were nice bars around, but I didn't go to any clubs near the office.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Joining the gym was the only activity I took part in. I wasn't aware of too many opportunities offered outside of work.

    3/5
