    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the insight at Danone. The three days were extremely well structured and everyone involved was absolutely lovely. I felt welcome in the Danone offices and was able to appreciate the great working atmosphere about which the company is so passionate. The agenda for the insight gave a great balance of learning and interactive sessions, as well as general opportunities to get to know everyone else attending. And of course, most importantly, we got to sample lots of delicious Danone products!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued by the staff at Danone. We were all treated as professional adults and always encouraged to discuss and share ideas. We were able to have some really great constructive discussions, bouncing ideas off one another as a whole group, both the students and Danone Team. Everyone at Danone was happy to engage with us and talk about both their career paths and current work projects, making me feel welcome and valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I think I received an excellent level of support and guidance during the insight. The agenda and proposed activities were always well explained, and I rarely found myself needed to ask for further clarification. If I did ask a question, the team were always really helpful and able to answer it. The team were very keen to make sure we felt well supported at all times and I think they did this very effectively.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This insight wasn't designed to help with degree studies, however it I think it gave me great preparation for undertaking the role of a Danone Campus Brand Ambassador. Having discussed ideas with both other students and the Danone Team, I felt confident in returning to university to undertake the role. I feel I have a good understanding of Danone as a company, and also the schemes I will need to promote to students at my university.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. It was designed to be quite casual with plenty of opportunities for discussions and team building, rather than being entirely formal learning. Discussions and presentations were well balanced and although there was a lot to learn, it never felt as though we had been focussing on just one thing for too long. The team made sure we had a good amount of breaks and networking opportunities.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere during the insight at Danone was lovely. All the other students were enthusiastic and easy to get on with. The team at Danone were very keen to get our input on their ideas so the atmosphere felt collaborative and productive. We were all encouraged to contribute to discussions and I felt very welcome in the offices.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Danone were keen to make sure we left the insight feeling as prepared as possible for undertaking the Campus Brand Manager role. They provided us with a great amount of information about both the company and their graduate schemes. I didn't really develop any personal skills, however this wasn't the intention of the insight.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think this insight gave a great idea of what working at Danone would be like. We got to see the offices functioning day to day and could enjoy the welcoming atmosphere there. We got to speak to a variety of Danone employees about their current work and ask questions about office life, so I left with a excellent impression of what it would be like to work there.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The overall message of the importance of health was always very prominent during the insight. It was refreshing to see the company value its employees' health as much as their customers' and the company's quite relaxed and welcoming culture was very clear to see throughout the office. We could also ask any further questions about the company's culture so we had a good insight.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The insight has encouraged me to consider my interests in moving away from working in the public sector, where I undertook my year in industry and a summer internship, and seek graduate opportunities in an FMCG company. Unfortunately Danone are no running their business functions graduate scheme this year so I will not be able to apply back to them right now.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Travel expenses of up to £100 were reimbursed, as well as a budget of £20 for dinner each night. We had been told we would have a budget of £5 for lunch each day, however the team ended up paying for our lunches on a company card instead to make things easier. We will be paid in vouchers for attending the insight.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were opportunities for meeting some other employees in the company, however no formal networking sessions. We got to chat to various people during the Q&A sections of their presentations to find out more about their careers and current work projects, but there was no official networking, which was perhaps a shame.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social opportunities were quite fun but there was no pressure to join in if you didn't want to. Some people went for dinner together in the evenings, which was nice, and then some chose to stay out later if they wanted to. We were encouraged to get to know each other and had some sessions dedicated to playing games and having fun during the insight.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. The Danone team were keen to talk about the various activities they have going on. They told us about the yoga and pilates classes they have at their office, as well as massage opportunities and the netball team. The office is located in a big modern business park which always has fun activities going to encourage employees to enjoy their time at work.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would definitely recommend this insight at Danone to a friend. I had a really great time and now feel very prepared for returning to university and undertaking the role of Campus Brand Manager.
