    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved my time at Edge, my skillset expanded incredibly and it was one of the most valuable experiences from my undergraduate.

  • Everyone is treated as an equal and listened to. Project work often includes teamwork, so you are well valued.

  • If any of us had any issues, we had a supervisor on hand to help guide us.

  • Some days were busier than others, but overall you always had something to be doing.

  • I was given a lot of responsibility and expected to deliver top quality work.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the skills I gained on my placement helped towards achieving my First class degree, and helped me decide to continue onto postgraduate study.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It never felt awkward or tense. People were generally happy and hardworking but also relaxed.

  • The director is closely linked to my university so it was set up pretty well.

  • A lot of training on software was given, to ensure you could do the work and understand exactly what you were doing.

  • Subsidised Canteen

  • If they were hiring, I'd definitely work for them again.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There's usually one student on placement at a time, so its pretty limited.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Its near the university campus, so its pretty cheap to live in the area.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Its basically on the University of Leeds' campus, so its pretty good.

  • No, not really. Work was work and didn't really spill over into home life.
