    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was very enjoyable discovering what all the different job roles were all about and how I could develop a career in this particular place, the staff were all very kind and helpful and it made me want to persue a career here in the future. There was not a great deal I disliked about this placement, there seemed to be many opportunities to develop and I learnt a great deal being there. I learnt more about the different job roles and opportunities and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to experience some of them.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Within my time there on the work placement I was made to feel very welcomed and not intimidated at all, it was a very nice and quite calm environment and everyone seemed to work as a team from time to time and help eachother out, I felt quite valued and the people there helped me to enjoy my time on the placement and feel as though I fitted in well.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I recieved a good amount of support throughout the placement, I was shown the ropes and learnt a great deal quite quickly. There was never any trouble or never made into a big deal when I made mistakes, mistakes where always learnt from and the guidance I recieved was good quality. There was always constructive criticism that I could learn and develop from.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills developed and information recieved will help me a great deal in the future as I would be looking to persue a proper career within the company, the information I got helped me for the particular job role I was also looking into and gave me key information on the kind of things it involved and what I would need to know for it. There were some skills developed but not as much as I would have wanted to however these could be gained if training for this job in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was all very well structured and organised, everything was in place and always knew when lunches and breaks were, always knew what I had to be doing whilst on the placement and what information I had to be taking down, most of it was shadowing other members of staff to get a good insight on what the different job roles involved and I always knew what was going on, nothing was ever mixed up and no information misinterpreted.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It could be quite a panicky atmosphere at certain times as everyone would be working hard to try and keep the clinics running on time and make sure no patients were going in late, however most times there was a calm atmosphere and everyone would always be helping and guiding eachother, it would get quite busy at times however everyone still remained calm and things were done quickly and effectively.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The training was adequate and I got to learn most of the things I was wanting to/expecting to. The company invested quite a good amount of time in personally training and helping me develop, even at the busiest times they still most of the time helped to ensure I was understanding and learning from the different job roles and learning from what the staff were doing. At the very busiest times it could be said that it was very hard to fit in times to explain anything that wasn't understood, however this eventually got fixed and staff ensured everything was understood by me effectively

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Especially considering the amount of days spent at the company/firm during my time there and the different job roles I experienced I would definitely say I got a good insight on what most of the job roles would be like to work for, I got to experience the majority of the job roles that may be available to me in the future and I got a good amount of experience and information from them and a good idea of what a day in the life of working for this company was like. All days were structured well and I spent full days there including having timed breaks and lunches and shadowing other staff so I would say there was definitely a good understanding of what it would be like to work for them

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight gave me a great understanding of the company culture, I understood what the company was all about and what was most important within the company, I learnt a lot about what It would really be like to work for them and information on the company. I was given guides and booklets and told a good amount of information about this company, so have a good idea what it is about.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content I learnt was fairly valulable as I spent many days shadowing staff in the job role I was looking into, helped me get an insight into what it was all about, the amount of hard work involved and the amount of information I would need to know so I would say the content of the day was pretty valulable and helped me get to know what it would be like to persue a career in this in the future. It seemed like a good job and very calm, everyone always seemed to be able to get along with customers.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • This was 2 weeks work experience done through my college so was therefore not paid to me or paid for. In the future as a career I would obviously be paid, I also have a job at this company currently as a result of the work experience.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I had the chance to meet and get to know well the employees of the company I worked for within the franchise I was working at, I had the chance to work with them as a team and get to know how they found the job/job roles and what they found it to be like there.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There weren't many networking/social event opportunities, however there were social event opportunities such as work nights out and parties to help get to know employees that worked there, I wasn't able to go to many of these (due to personal preference). The social events usually involved all of the staff and anyone was able to go.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I didn't really find out about many activities that went on outside of work, we did occasionally have charity events inside of work but never activities outside, there were opportunities to find out about training outside of work. I think there may have been activities that were going on outside of work but i was not informed of that many of them.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would maybe reccommend this insight to a friend as there is a lot to learn from within it and there is a lot of opportunity and good experience whilst doing it, it would give someone a good insight on what it was like and would like to think a friend would find it quite an enjoyable job as well as me.
