    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement and like the working environment very much. I found different aspects very interesting and learnt many things that you do not get to experience at university. I enjoyed talking to different people about their experiences and this has given me new areas for potential future careers that I am now interested in.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • To begin with I felt fairly valued by my colleagues and this only improved over time. Towards the end of my placement I was starting to feel like part of the team as I was contributing towards their goals. I know that I was valued because I was doing work and tasks that needed doing.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given good support from my supervisors and not only did they support my integration to the company but my general queries as well. Sometimes I felt a little unsupported but that was due to scheduling and a combination of my supervisors and direct colleagues being on holiday for a short time.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was fairly busy on a day to day basis and found that there was always something for me to do. There were the odd days where I was looking for work but I mainly did longer term tasks that provided a reliable workload. However, I wanted to transfer tasks to get some experience of other parts of the wider team but unfortunately there were no opportunities to.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good amount of responsibility during my placement. Towards the end of the placement I was doing more important tasks with deadlines so I had some responsibility. At times I felt that I was given maybe a little too much as some colleagues were pressuring me to get work done. I understand that the world of work is different to university life but I wasn’t used to that kind of pressure.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have definitely improved my abilities with excel spreadsheets and word processing which I will take forward and use in day to day life and in my studies. I was not trained in anything specific as I was not with the company for a long enough time. I am grateful for the opportunity and feel more versed in the working world.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was good and everyone seemed friendly and approachable. I really like that there were so many young graduates in the office and other placement students. There were jokes and light-hearted conversation that was uplifting to hear throughout the day. It felt like everyone enjoyed their jobs and this reflected positively on the company.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My placement was set up well however I had some data access issues in the first couple weeks. I felt that the work I received could have been a little better organised to give me a wider experience of the company. Apart from the issues regarding being a new employee on the internal systems, everything else was done well.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a great social scene for other placement students. We met up frequently and did a range of activities. The SSC was great as it offered lots of opportunities for different things and it had something for everyone. I enjoyed playing table football at lunch as it was great fun and provided an opportunity to meet other placement students.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The Bristol nightlife is brilliant as there are so many different things to see and do. There are lots of different clubs catering to different tastes and many bars and pubs all over the place. I’ve been clubbing several times and it has been one of my favourite cities do go out in.
