About You
It was a great opportunity to learn more about the work Teach First does and to see a disadvantaged school. I got to experience something I'd never truly understood until now.
The leaders [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] made us feel like they knew us all. Also, they give you calls to check how you are doing.
Both during the week induction and the week in the school I felt fully supported by my supervisors. I got the opportunity to develop my own lesson with the support of existing materials.
I learnt so much about society and education that I think this placement is worth it even if you do decide not to go into teaching.
The Company
1 week induction in London where you get to know Teach First and the other participants. This had some tedious parts but was generally fun. 1 week in a school. I would have preferred longer in the school as one week wasn't long enough to generate relationships with the students and to truly understand what a Teach First graduate does.
Everyone in the insight was very happy and full of life. Honestly some of the best people I have met in recent years all together in one room. They all had the same goal and were super enthusiastic about it.
They paid us and paid for our accommodation.
Got to experience life in a Teach First school. Would have preferred longer in the school. The week before was like the intensive summer school.
Definitely got to understand this.
It is one of these things that actually made me think. I started to appreciate the role of teachers and what a good teacher can be.
Everything Else
Paid £500 for the two weeks. They also paid for our accommodation and breakfast.
Got to meet the other participants and previous graduates. Met a current Teach first teacher in my school.
Met for drinks on the last night of each week. Week we were in the school we areanhed our own social activities
No this wasn't covered due to the different location of employees.
100% just for the insight into how education works in schools with underprivileged students. Honestly, it will stay with me forever.
