The Role
My palcement at Michael Dyson Associates was very much a valuable experience and I feel the skills and experience I have gained I will carry forward with me throughout my career.
I felt like I was an integral part of the company and that I was always appreciated in the work I was carrying out. My colleagues regularly gave praise which made me feel appreciated and valued.
Throughout my placement at Michael Dyson Associates I was constantly given excellent guidance assisting me in any areas. My supervisor was very approachable and always willing to help with anything.
As I had an integral role within the design team, I had personal deadlines which had to be met. This meant that I was constantly busy every day and had to manage my time effeciently. Putting in extra hours where necessary was required and this has prepared me well for a future in Architectural Technology.
I feel my level of responsibility throughout my placement has been excellent as I have been trusted to attend client meetings alone and undertake surveys and site visits on a regular basis. I was given the responsibilioty of performing important tasks throughout the year.
Due to having an important role, I feel the skills, qualities and experience I have gained will assist me greatly going forward into my final year of studies and also through my career.
The Company
The design team within the office were always friendly, approachable and always willing to help with anything.
The whole process from application, interviews, beginning and end of placement were all brilliantly set up and organised and seemed to be a fully seamless system.
The company always pushed and encouraged the progression of proffesional studies as well as hosting regular CPD events. The company organised regular industry training sessions to keep up to speed with current industry practise and regulations.
Company Car
Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a scholarship from the company who will sponsor me through my final year of studies with an agreed term of employment ammediately after finishing university.
The Culture
Various social events have been organised and everyone has been friendly and easy to organise events with.
I rented a property nearby which was cheap and the cost of living was cheap.
I have not really gone out to experience the "nightlife", however I understand nearby there are ample facilities.
Multiple social events were organised throughout my placement year which is a great way to get to know my colleauges.
