About You
I thought the PwC Woman in Business week gave a really good insight in to every day work at PwC. I shadowed a female partner for the first couple of days attending audit clearance meetings as well as getting the opportunity to work alongside an audit team out at a client site. This team was made up of graduates and I got the opportunity to ask them lots of questions about working for PwC and completing accounts exams.
I felt very valued during my work experience week. I was introduced to many members of staff who were all interested in what I was doing at university and all made sure I was being looked after. While attending audit clearance meetings I was introduced to all members of staff at each company and felt like a member of the team even though I was only shadowing.
I was very well supported and looked after during the Woman in Business week. I was given clear instructions on any tasks I was asked to carry out. The staff were all very friendly and approachable and answered any questions I had about tasks I was carrying out as well as answered all my questions about working for PwC.
The Company
I spent the first day and a half shadowing a female partner attending audit clearance meetings and I spent the rest of my time assisting in an audit out at a client site. I was told this was what I would be doing on day one. My week was well organised before I had even arrived. Being out on site allowed me to see what I would be doing as a graduate in PwC.
There was a general buzz about the audit office in PwC Belfast from the minute I arrived. Everyone was very friendly and introduced themselves to me and took an interest in what I was doing. There is a really good team atmosphere within the office - everyone seems to work together and support each other.
During the week many members of staff invested time in me explaining their role within PwC and allowing me to shadow them and learn more about the functions within the company. On the last day of my placement I had a review meeting in which I was offered a graduate job within the audit department which will commence in September 2018 after I have completed the final year of my degree.
I shadowed people from different levels and backgrounds within PwC - this gave me a broad understanding of how the company works. I spend a few days with graduates out on site assisting them with an audit. This allowed me to see the sort of tasks I will be carrying out when I join PwC in September 2018 after completing my degree.
At the end of the Woman in Business week I was offered a graduate training contract within the audit department. I accepted this on the basis that I really enjoyed the insight I got from completing the program. I got the feeling that PwC would be a really good company to work for.
Everything Else
I was paid well for the Woman in Business week in PwC at the end of the month. There is also the option to request to be reimbursed expenses if needs be however I live quite close to the office and was not in the situation that I needed to request any expenses.
One afternoon there was a department meeting. PwC took everyone in the department to a bar for a drink and some food whilst everyone chatted. After this there was a short presentation reviewing the last quarter. Allowing the Woman in Business students to come along to this event gave us an idea of what working for PwC would be like and hearing the previous success of the company was encouraging.

I would definitely recommend this insight programme to everyone who has an interest in a career with PwC. You are really treated like a member of the team for the week. There is also the opportunity to be offered a graduate job at the end of the week if you impress.
