About You
I enjoyed it very much. I felt challenged but not overwhelmed.
I felt very valued during my time with Teach First. They really instructed us well, challenged us but also gave a lot of space to explore and discover our strenghts. They really invested in us and helped us to identify points of strenght and points for development.
I got good support and could have reached out for more if I would have needed it. Sometimes the communication between different staff could have been better and they did not all communicate the same information about certain questions.
It definitely helped me to identify my strengths and points do develop. It also gave me a good look into the LDP and how a life as a teacher could look like. It made me even more passionate about education equality, but also taught me that the actual teaching in the classroom might not be the right thing for me.
The Company
The teaching was phenomenal and I really enjoyed having lots of different sessions run by different people and in different groups. The continuous change definitely helped that it didn't feel boring or monotone. The teaching at school could be a day longer and I think it would be good to see lots of different teachers rather than sticking with one for four days. Also, I would have enjoyed teaching more than one lesson because I feel like it might have given me confidence that I can improve and become better at it.
Very positive and expectant. I loved how engaged everyone was. The teaching style definately created that atmosphere.
I loved that they took time to give us personal feedback about the assessment center and to identify areas of development. However, during the actual insight programme there was only really one session about personal development and the rest was left to our own independent study. I think there could have been another session maybe in smaller groups in order to help us to identify steps forward how to improve in certain areas.
It definitely helped to imagine doing the LDP and being a teacher. Not so much working for Teach First itself.
I think they had a great emphasis on Teach First as an employer and the culture they want to create and live.
The personal experience in the school during the second week was definitely more valuable in regards to make a decision about my future career path than the first week was. I believe it could have been even more helpful if two different schools could be visited and more than one teacher observed. I think then I would have had an even better and clearer picture of whether it is my own passion or not and I could imagine working as a teacher.
Everything Else
I am very thankful and impressed that Teach First paid us for this experience. It reimbursed my expenses and I had a little leftover.
No not really, but plenty of opportunities to meet alumni who have done the LDP, which was great.
Yes during the first week and at the accomodation, however there could have been more 'organised' opportunities.
Yes, the intern opportunities over summer
Yes, I would
