The Role
This placement gave me the opportunity to experience the working life of a graduate and I also got to know many colleagues who were always there to support and encourage me. PwC was always there to give us guidance and support, playing the role of a good employer to the fullest.
My colleagues were friendly and nice, always there to guide and answer all queries regardless of the grade they were in.
My manager constantly emails me to ask how I am coping with work and exams, and gave me extremely useful advice throughout my placement year. She was also supportive of my decisions and looked out for me during the entire year.
It was particularly busy during January to March, considering the fact that it is the peak period for many audits. However the teams I worked with were extremely helpful and we supported each other to the end.
I was given the same responsibility as a year one graduate, which is good as it really exposed myself to real time working situations. This also allowed me to further improve my skills which will be beneficial in the future.
This placement helped me improve my time management skills, communication skills and many more which will be very useful when I go back to my degree, whether is it in interacting with my coursemates and managing my own time efficiently.
The Company
It was a small office but everyone was friendly and nice, making it a very comfortable environment to work in. It felt like a family.
This placement was white well organised, with catch up calls and the work responsibilities outlined for us throughout the year. There were also mentors who were always there to answer our queries.
I had to undertake some professional exams which definitely saved my time and was a good chance to enhance my knowledge in the field, making my job more enjoyable and efficient.
Company Parties/Events
Placement students are given a work offer at the end of the placement, depending on your work performance. We are also given the choice to accept the offer or to transfer the offer to another office within the firm.
The Culture
There were often social events held to improve the interaction within the office. Most colleagues attend and the atmosphere is normally very lively and inviting.
The cost of living was affordable and my salary is sufficient to support my daily needs.
I rarely go out at night but Liverpool has quite a happening night scene which makes living in the city more interesting.
The firm often organises voluntary activities and encourages us to attend. They were very meaningful and also represented quality time spent aside from work.
