The Role
I really enjoyed my year at PwC. All staff made me feel welcome and the level of responsibility gave me a large variety of experiences which have developed me as an individual
My whole team made me feel like a normal member of staff. My colleagues trusted me with complex tasks and to complete to the highest standard.
Everyday I had meetings with my managers who discussed how I was performing and if there was anything at all that they could do to improve my experience.
At the beginning of my placement I had periods were I had very little work but I understand that I was just new. However once I switched teams I was busy every minute of the day getting involved in meetings with senior stakeholders.
I was given a huge amount of responsibility being asked to perform tasks which would result in being sent to the Director and Partner.
Everyday I was required to use excel extensively using many different types of formulas to carry out data analysis. As an economist this will come in extremely handy for my final year of study
The Company
Everyone worked well together. There would be fun had in the office however knew the tasks that needed to be carried out which meant everyone was concentrated on their work.
I felt that the work placement was very well structured. Throughout the year the student recruitment team aswell as my own department would meet up with all the other students to discuss how everything was going.
I went through a one week AML course aswell as an excel bootcamp which gave me a greater knowledge of that area and improve my skills.
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I would definitely come back again and work for PwC. All staff are very supportive and the work that is done is very challenging.
The Culture
Due to their being many other students we would all meet for lunch even though we were working in different departments. We would go out at weekends and there was even a facebook group.
Belfast is a relative cheap city in comparison to the rest of the UK so it isn't too expensive to socialise and live there.
There are many bars and clubs in Belfast aswell as large shopping centres filled with restaurants. There was always something going on every weekend.
Within PwC there were many sports teams who would post about training or meeting up to play 5 aside. I would play 5 aside with people from work on Tuesdays
