The Role
I really enjoyed the Summer Internship Program at HSBC. During the 10 weeks you have the opportunity to discover the Investment Banking industry, to network with people, to improve your financial skills.
I think this aspect depends on the team you were placed with. On all the projects I was working on they gave me real work, so my colleagues give me a lot of responsability, I was not only an intern, I was involved like any other analyst.
During the first week of the Summer Program we had a technical training. Moreover, in my team, they organised a lot of presentations at the start of the internship in order to explain us exactly what they did, it was a good opportunity to have an overview of the division. To finish, each week we had presentations about an other team in order to discover the other divisions. So yes, they gave us a lot of support during the internship.
We had sufficient work in order to have a good understanding at the end of the internship.
During the placement, I think my team give us a lot of responsability even if we are only interns.
During the placement, I developed my networking, valuation, financial skills. It will help me in my studies because I am studying finance but also in the profesionnal life after.
The Company
Working in HSBC is like being part of a family: everybody cares about your success and well-being. Moreover, there is always somebody who can help you with some technical topic or just navigating through the organization.
The overall work placement was really well organised. We started by a one week financial training. We joined after our team but with still a lot of presentations each week to understand the banking industry and to discover all the other divisions.
I think HSBC invested a lot in us. They organised really well the training in order to develop our skills, and to be sure we want to work in the Financial Services industry.
When you do the summer internship, you are applying to the Graduate Program. They give an answer in the two weeks ending the internship.
The Culture
We didn't have too much time to try to the nightlife.
