    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship very much. I was given various tasks to do and I learned a lot. I was given the opportunity to develop myself as I completed many challenging tasks.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From the very beginning, my colleagues made me feel like a valued part of the team. Despite me being a novice in all the tasks I was assigned, my help was valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As all the tasks were new to me, I required a lot of support and coaching while doing them. I was always provided with the required level of support and guidance, and encouraged to ask questions whenever I needed help. The atmosphere was always extremely friendly and my colleagues were extremely approachable despite buying busy with their own tasks.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • During my 6 week internship there was only 1 day when I didn't have something to do for the whole day, and even then I was doing e-learns and thus, supporting my development. My colleagues always asked me how I was coping with my work and never overloaded me with tasks. This does not mean I did not get work done: I was provided with a sufficient amount of work to feel like I progressed and contributed to the team effort.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the very beginning, I was encouraged to go to talk to clients which in my opinion is a sign that I was trusted. Considering my position as an intern, I think I was given the right amount of responsibility. I was trusted to do pieces of work by myself, with the opportunity to ask for guidance whenever I needed it. As with associates, my work was reviewed by a more senior member of the firm, and in this respect I felt like I was given the same responsibilities a freshly started associate would have been given.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned many skills during my internship and I think I can use all of them in the future. My team work skills developed, and this is something I can use when I go back to university for my last year. My confidence was also boosted by being trusted to do significant pieces of work by myself and through positive feedback.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • At the start of the internship, we had a 3 day residential induction which was a huge investment on all the interns. The whole first week of the internship was allocated to training to get us set up and ready to work for PwC and contribute. We were also encouraged to utilise the firms learning and development portal whenever we had any downtime to keep developing our skill set.
