  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The colleagues just treated me like their own people. I always call my supervisor "boss". And he is really a nice boss. From the first day i come to intern here, he called the other staff in CTR as " our colleague" to me, which gave me a strong sense of belongings. This also taught me a lesson, when i was in real work, i should also treat the others in such a sincere and kind manner to build a harmonious interpersonal relationship in working places. I was trusted by my boss and colleagues, and was given lots of opportunities to deal with tasks independently and show my initiatives. And they did care my opinions!!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor is a Pisces in star sign. He is patient, upright and have a sense of responsibility to nature the youth. When he did work, he would explain and teach me how to do it at the same time. And find chance to let me do it in practical. So i can turn the new working skills into my skills. And he also shared his career experience to me, taught me how to start as a freshman in career. That's what i really need now!

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The working hours is really flexible. I was decided by the nature of my job. As a project coordinator, the busiest time will be the beginning and the end of the month, for we have to say bye to the old participants and welcome the new ones. but officially, my working hours is from 10am to 3pm. And after work, i have enough time to travel around in Germany and other Europe countries. I like the flexible working rhythm very much!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Actually, i have a wide range of chances to show my initiatives during my placement. As a generation Y, i try to use the young people's way to improve my work duties, like using social medias and young men's interpersonal skills to get along well with my customers. It did work and got praised by my boss which enforce my confidence in working. And sometimes my boss will ask about my opinions when make decisions, which makes me feel being treated seriously and encouraged.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During the internship, i got the chance to experience what is the life like in being a tourism project coordinator. It's an occupation between hospitality, tourism and events management. Not that confined in a fixed space and also don't have to always transfer to everywhere. It gives me chance to decide and manage things and show my initiatives at the same time which is quite matching to my personality. If it is not interning here in CTR, i won't know which kind of work i really want to do, which area should i start as my future career. And i will get a reference from CTR after i finish my internship which will add credits to my future CV and other interviews. This period of internship makes me become mature, steady-going, more confident and have lots of things and experience to share when i need to present myself. So, i want to say: Thanks you, CTR! Thank you my boss and my colleagues! Thanks for giving me chance to learn and harvest so many things! I wish CTR a bright future and hope more students can benefit from this project!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • we have two offices in the city center. The rooms are really nice, in a modern office building, good facilities, with wifi, and the transportation is convenient to everywhere. The room is around 100 m2 per project room, so its big enough to enjoy the work here. And we don't have to do the cleaning ourselves. There is specific staff from this building who will take care of the facilities and the cleaning things here.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think the biggest investment on me is to trust me with 100%. That's also why i love here and are willing to introduce more people to come to City Travel Review participanting the project or doing internships here. City Travel Review is a more than 10-year-old project company, they love to nature young guys and help them to realize their international dream. What i can feel here is, as long as the things can help students and let students to learn and benefit from the project, they will be willing to invest and make the change. On me, it is also the same situation. They are going to launch new project destination in Shanghai, China so that the sstudents will have a chance to visit China with budget fee and can solve their problems in dont't how to make their China dream come true. and i also am interested in this project, so they really trust me and give me the chance to draft for China project proposal even though i am also a young man who just graduate from master degree. But i really devote my 100% passion and efforts in this project, because not only CTR but also me, we all want to fercilitate this Shanghai project come true, so that more and mote students can visit China with budget project fee and make their experience and background more international.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • This company they treasure talents. As long as you can bring contributions to company's development, they will consider to have you as an official staff in CTR. There is a real case that, one of our project participant become our staff member after joining our project. And she really enjoyed her job in CTR. But we must remember, it is not as long as we want to stay here then the company will have to must hire you. you must have the same faith with our company and be willing to contribute to company and have that skills and passion to work well. So one thing you can do if you really want to work here, that is to find out your weakness during your internship and improve that as soon as you find them. keep improving and studying all the time, then you will be strong and confidence enough and also will be strongly wellcomed by CTR to be accepted as an official stall member.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • what i know is a student who ever participanted our project in Berlin and now she becomes our colleague in Edingburgh branch, she said she enjoyed to work with a group of passionate and kind and upright peope, and she also liked what CTR is doing and CTR's corporate conception. Another case is one of our spring student in Berlin P roject this year, she used the reference CTR gave her to get a paid internship, it's really a good news for her, she said the reference helped her to add credits during the job hunting process and she really thanked CTR to give her this chance. I think thede two cases can ba some examples for good socia scenes amongst fellow students and colleagues.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • since i am a vegetarian and most of the time i cook at home, so the living cost for me is relatively low. but for a normal person, 10 to 15 euros per day, i think you can live a good life here if you have three meals outside. And the clothes and shoes as long as you don't choose luxury brands, there are some products in quality but low price. Since it's the city center, so it's a good place to enjoy berlin, you won't feel boring by working here.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I have the experience for walking on the 2 am 's Berlin street. At that time, there are still some restaurant and bars are open. Some berliners are still enjoying their happy hours on street. During the night,, every body seems free and full of young style. And it's safe even though you can only travel around by bus. and the bus is half an hour per shift. If you lost your way on mid-night's street, don't worry, the enthusiastic berliners will help you until you get back home. i have ever experienced that the bus driver drove a bus help me to catch up another bus. that is really impressive!!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, i have enough time to take part in activities after my work. Especially the weekends, i took part into guided tours to explore Berlin and the neighbouring countries, and my boss also encouraged me to travel more in my freetime. at the beginning of the internship, when he known that i haven't been to Potsdam city even though i have already been here for almost one month, he said he couldnot imagine that a person had never been to Potsdam city for staying Berlin for months. He said if you don't have time to go there, i will give you a one-day off, you go there during work time. And he really put this thing on his schedule seriously. That really moved and impressed me. Such a cute and considerate boss, don't you want to work hard for him and his company? Definitly yes!!
