    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I worked in transaction tax so the nature of the job was challenging, but the people added spice to life. There was always a promotion of balance. And I had a good mentor which really helped.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They took care of me and saw that I learnt something about the job, which I could be in for a long time if I accepted

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We were given responsibility but other than that, it was a learning process by ourselves. I thought that was quite meaningful as it inferred a certain trust our supervisor had in us.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Pretty busy because of the number of deals I was on.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Quite a bit. I had to help draft a report which I had never done before. To be honest, I wasn't expecting that kind of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It helped me choose my modules and to focus on modules that will matter in my job in the future.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was quite a bit of drinking, but also the occassional chat which was really involving and somewhat distracting at times, which was good for the amount of work we had.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was quite well planned although I was wishing for better events.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They made sure I had as wide a glimpse of what I was signing my 3 years up for.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Signed a contract!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The interns were quite sociable, while our colleagues were very caring.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive drinks in London.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There wasn't much and it was costly, but there was the occassional pint or two.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had football outside but it was difficult to get involved with the short time there.

    4/5
