    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyable and interesting work, very Excel oriented. Every interns project varies a lot and you have no input on what your project is, so slight pot luck in getting project ideal for you.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very good friendly and collaborative atmosphere. Felt highly valued as intern and like my work was very much appreciated.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Due to a restructure occurring during my placement this was slightly hindered, graduates mentioned it was much better during their placement.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In some periods without guidance sometimes work load thinned.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My project involved investigating £120m spend. In a morning visiting treasury I was let execute swaps totalling around £40m.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Gained many useful technical and work place softer skills, yet to see how these transfer into my degree.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly and collaborative, even when during a time of widescale restructuring.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Many departments involved in internship, so lots of events organised. Overall running was incredibly smooth.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Many master classes run on topics varying from excel skills to commercial awareness. Access granted and encouraged to use Tesco Academy which has many great courses to learn skills, I attended one SQL course and a presentation skills course, both of which I would strongly recommend.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Many varied roles, only drawback is main campus being in Welwyn Garden City would mean a relocation.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Many events and nights out done between interns and within teams.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I remained in my London based university accommodation. Most not from London rented accommodation in Hatfield for about £90 per week, their journey then to work took about 45 mins.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Welwyn Garden City is very quiet, nights out were done in London.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I played 5 a side football with my team weekly.
