The Role
The internship was great, it was a really good way to get to know PwC and the Leeds office, and also made me aware that I do enjoy technical work and that I think RAS may be for me. I got to know the people I’m working and gain valuable experience.
I did feel valued by my colleagues who had me complete useful work. When possible I was given interesting tasks and I was always thanked for the effort I put in. I felt that I was treated like an AS1 or a TA rather than as an intern, but was always supported.
Whichever job I was on I was always given support on my tasks. We were encouraged to try them for ourselves and then ask for help when we were sure we couldn't solve the problem on our own. The junior members of staff were approachable and friendly and answered my questions thoroughly
For 2 weeks of my internship the client was unavailable for work, so I had to find my own tasks to complete. During this time I sourced my own jobs, completed admin work and a couple of Elearns, and attended a few client events, but it could have been busier. However, I appreciate that this is a fluke and if I were working here as a graduate I would likely have a few jobs I could fall back on if I found myself with less work.
During my placement I was given an appropriate level of responsibility. I felt like I was completing important tasks, but I did not feel overwhelmed or stressed. If I felt worried about the work I was completing I could rely on the staff around me to provide me with support and if I felt like I could be doing more I felt confident enough to reach out and ask for more work.
I learned extremely valuable time keeping skills whilst I was here, and I have learned to be motivated and stick to a routine. I feel more organised after my (nearly) 6 weeks here. I have become a more confident person whilst I’m here and feel comfortable working, meeting and holding phone calls with strangers.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was really friendly, but studios. Occasionally we would break from our work to have a chat and this was important because sometimes the work was quite technical. I appreciated that all members of staff offered to make drinks, rather than just interns! It was a calm place to work.
The internship was well set up, with a great first few intro days in Surrey. Resourcing worked hard to sort out every intern with 6 weeks of varied jobs. Unfortunately the job I was working on was pushed back for a couple of weeks, but during that time great efforts were made to sort me out in that time.
PwC investing in me heavily over the initial 3 days of training in Surrey. Since then I have been able to increase my theoretical knowledge of applications by using Eleans in periods where I have had less work. I felt like PwC spared no expense whilst we were in Surrey and since then they have allowed me to travel for work and gain interesting new experiences.

I’d like to think my job prospects are fairly good, but we fine out next week. So far all my feedback has been positive and in my meetings with my people manager he has not mentioned any negative feedback or results. I would accept the job offer if one was made to me.
The Culture
I have formed a bond with the other interns, and we have become friends outside of work, which is great. Within the job there is a good social scene, with people often asking if you’d like to go for drinks with them after work on Friday. It’s been a fun way to meet people.
As I go to university in the area I’m working in the cost of living has been exactly as I’ve expected. My student house is approx £90pw including bills. Food has to be paid for on top of that, but in general Leeds is a cheap place to live. I’d recommend to other potential interns.
Throughout the course of the internship I have not gone out much, as it has been quiet whilst there have been no students here. However in general Leeds is a great place to go out in. There’s lots of bars, clubs etc and they’re never quiet. The nightlife here is some of the best in the country.
There were opportunities to get involved in the sports day that happened at the very start of the internship which was great fun. If I had enquired about it I’m sure I could have got briefly involved with the sports teams at PwC, but admittedly whilst I was here I did not do that.
