  • - Challenging and rewarding work - Friendly and positive working environment - Can be frustrating when something's not working!

  • - Felt like a useful part of my team of 5 - Colleagues would ask for my thoughts on some questions

  • - Excellent feedback cycle - Manager very available to give support and advice and answer questions - Lots of focus on personal development

  • - Always knew what tasks I needed to do next, but still had to think plenty about how to do them!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • - Writing code that would be used for an upcoming release - Not responsible for planning (very complex) high-level design

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • - Coding skills useful for final year physics project and in potential software career - Useful experience in communication, especially giving presentations - Teamwork skills from 3-day team project will be valuable in most environments

  • - Cheerful, hard-working, encouraging

  • - All ran very smoothly, no particular complaints - Have taken on lots of interns for many years so they know what they're doing!

  • - Lots of training sessions, including on presentations and creative thinking - Weekly talks on technical topics - Manager devoted a lot of time to helping me learn and giving feedback

  • - Second interview at end of internship (awaiting results) - Would strongly consider a job there - Many employees stay for a long time!

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • - Plenty of activities and socials - I was living further away from the office (at home) so more difficult to join in

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • - Not uninfluenced by London prices, but pretty cheap all the same!

  • - Didn't get involved with it at all, not aware of what venues there are

  • - Lots of company clubs and groups for sports, games, hobbies.
