The Role
It was very enjoyable. Everyone was friendly and willing to help.
My colleagues were very respectful and valued my opinion on their work.
I was given support whenever needed as well as independence to explore outside of my tasks.
Reasonably busy. The beginning was a bit slow though.
As I said before, the work assigned to me was actually work that needed to be done in the plant. My manager wasn't micromanaging me and trusted me to finish my job.
My final year project is going to be about simulation of power networks. Since I worked on that in BP, It should be a lot easier.
The Company
The atmosphere is friendly and it wasn't stressful at all. Everyone was prepared to help whenever they can.
The internship is very well organised. Firstly, we were given a self-assessment form that detailed what is required of us. Then there is a mid internship review which ensured that I was on the right track. Then there is a final review with the manager and an independent assessor. Lastly, a lot of learning sessions were organised.
A lot of e-learning opportunities available to learn more about your discipline as well as BP. Also, graduate team organised sessions about soft skills such as communication skills and learning methods.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
The employment prospects look good usually 50% of interns get offered graduate jobs.
The Culture
All of my colleagues were also friendly and we went out together a couple of times.
Minimal. Falkirk is quite inexpensive. Edinburgh is a bit costly though.
I am not a fan of nightclubs myself, so I haven't thought about it.
yes, there were plenty of opportunities to get involved with other activities, such as, lunch and learn, technofest, sports day and dinners.
