  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Large office with a friendly atmosphere, ability to gain lots of experience of the organisation through liaising with other teams during projects, mentor scheme and shadowing opportunities.

  • Valued as a member of the team with real responsibility from day 1.

  • Tailored to the individual. Independence given for own projects, but supportive environment for any concerns. Manager was always available for questions.

  • Busy but not overwhelmed, regular weekly meetings with manager to adjust work plan and projects as needed.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Full responsibility of own project, with support available if needed. Project involved liaising with other teams internally as well as external stakeholders and this was done independently.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed existing skills, and learnt new skills particularly in areas such as project management, strategic communications, utilising partnerships and creation of resources through software such as SharePoint.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Recruitment process was well organised and simple with a clear point of contact throughout. Lots of opportunities for personal development over the 12 weeks, with development sessions organised regularly and weekly socials.

  • Significant investment of time into regular personal development sessions across a wide range of areas, and skills building via workshops i.e. excel.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Lots of jobs available across a wide range of departments, with a preference for internal recruitment, therefore after completing an internship there is a significant chance of successful further employment with the organisation.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Office in Angel centrally located, lots of bars and restaurants within a short distance, Weekly socials held for interns at local bars and opportunities for fundraising together.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Relatively expensive area to live due to being in central London, but many interns commute from home or in zones 3/4 and travel in. The organisation will reimburse all travel expenses and up to £4 for lunch per day.
