The Role
I really enjoyed working with American Express. I was part of a great team and was given a really interesting project that let me explore my interpersonal skills while I learnt about the business.
From day 1 I was part of the team and my contributions to conversations and discussions were taken seriously. I also felt that senior leaders were actively interested in my opinions and thoughts on the company, the internship and everything else.
Everyone I spoke to was ready to lend a hand and help me achieve. Amex fosters a culture where everyone wins, and so asking for help is easy! My manager was fantastic and was able to point me in the direction whenever she couldn't help. The program manager was also exceptionally helpful and had contacts throughout the business.
I always had something to do or someone to talk to. Even at times where my project slowed, there were people to network with and learning to be done. And above that, there was chance to impress and take on challenges beyond your original task.
I was working on projects where I ran sessions and led the delivery of our process improvements.
I'll be able to take real world experience to my studies and demonstrate an awareness of the wider business impact of individual projects.
The Company
The team worked hard and had a reputation for success. This didn't mean they weren't fun! far from it! But there were times when everyone just needed to get their heads down. That said, everyone was up for a laugh!
I knew what I was doing from day one and was given any support i needed.
I was invited to every single piece of training that my team were invited to. I was also given 1-2-1 time with Senior leaders who all gave me advice on my personal development.

The Culture
There were 7 interns working across my department and we all got on really well. We all arranged to go out together and enjoyed meeting for lunch almost everyday
I already lived in Brighton, so it was no more expensive than it had been while I was a student.
Brighton has a great nightlife scene.
I was able to do loads of things outside of work.
