    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed it, everyone was really friendly and open to helping me. Their was always something to do, obviously the first week was slow but that's because you have to learn how everything is done.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Definitely a lot, I was given work which actually went towards pitching to clients on a deal or in a meeting with senior colleagues. People also asked for my opinions in meetings so this definitely made me feel valued!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As much as I wanted, I was quite independent so tried to tackle stuff by myself first and then ask analysts for help but every time I was completely stuck, I just asked my manager and he showed me how to do something.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As much as I wanted to be, you could send an email around and get put on 5 deals or you could just stay working on one, its completely up to you and how eager you are.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As much as I could handle, sometimes they push you but that's only because they want to see how much you can take on. At all time we are given support so you never feel under pressure or scared of the work load.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • These skills will definitely help me for a career in investment banking, I would love to work back at Lloyds, the culture is amazing.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was really chilled. obviously if their was a deadline people would be under pressure but apart from that, its pretty relaxed.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very good, we started with a big introduction event, met interns across the whole group and then met our managers and the following day, everything was structured.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had online courses and training in different areas of the bank to attend during the internship sop this built up our further skills and knowledge in the industry,

  • I would love to work here again, great culture and great people, really enjoyed every second of it.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, you got out of it what you put in, if you wanted to be social you could go out every day, if not, it wasn't frowned upon.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lloyds paid for accommodation.

  • Very good - London night life

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, team members always asking to take part in activities - bowling go karting etc.
