    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed it

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very much so

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Huge amount

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Fluctuated- always had something smaller I could be getting on with though due to CSR project

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I waas given about as much responsibility as you'd expect. Clearly I am a long way from being able to sit in on client meetings but I wsa still able to do more or less what others on the grad scheme were doing which was good.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am doing a course in Actuarial Science- so hopefully these skills will be really useful. Also, I would like to have a career in this field and so I feel that this will have been good practice for me.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was hard to judge my office- it wasn't what I had expected. With Manchester being a big city, I thought it would be really busy but it isn't at all like that. The people in this office are all really nice and in fact it was much nicer being in a smaller office as I feel like I am not working with anybody that I haven't spoken too. It feels like a tighter office because of it.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Incredibly well organised. My manager was really good at setting up regular meetings so if there was ever a time where I had not much work on, the following day we'd have a meeting and then shortly after he'd ensure I had a lot to be getting on with.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to spend a lot of time learning new skills which I don't think I have had before. They were very patient even if it took quite a while, nobody would ever mind teaching me new topics in detail. Plus there was a weekly lunch and learn event on to learn more about the company and the industry as a whole which was really useful.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to be offered a job here- it was a great internship and I'd like to think the grad scheme would be amazing too. Aon do hire many of their interns/

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As I was the only one interning in my office, there wasn't anything going on. However, during the time I spent in London/ Chelmsford it was really good.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Same as normal- I was paying rent anyway as I go to university here so it made no difference I would advise somewhere in Manchester or the North over London due to prices there.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Really good- being a city with so many students, Manchester does have a really good nightlife

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes- I have been on a sports day with Aon where all office met up and hada netball and football tournament followed by food and drinks I also went over to Leeds (the Leeds and Manchester offices are technically one big office) and my team had a go-karting social, again followed by drinks.
