The Role
The internship is great in terms of people you work with and the environment within the office. Interns are treated very well and everyone is friendly and available to give info or explanations. The work is quite dynamic and never the same for 2 days in a row, this makes it interesting and not boring. HR organizes several activities through out the 10 weeks that are very enjoyable and make interns feel wanted by the company
My manager is constantly telling me how much he appreciated my work and how I reached above expectations, It is a very good thing as I feel valued and appreciated. Also my team members appreciate any help and work that I do, always happy to give compliments and say thank you and they are always ready to exchange the favour.
I was given thorough support and help especially in the beginning during the on-boarding process when I did not know anything about how things worked and what products and services where, I was given material (slides and others) to inform myself on and I was given several overviews by several people about everything that is going on in the office.
Some days were very very busy while some other days were not too busy. On average my days could have been busier but given the nature of my project I could not have done anything different as it was a kind of information gathering project where I had to wait for information to come in
My project is a quite good responsibility as it will be used in the future my senior leaders in my team, so the correctness and precision of the information contained in the project is up to me, what I ask other teams and people to deliver for me is up to me and if something comes in wrong that is my responsibility
Not too much content-wise but quite good work-wise, I learned how a big firm works and how things get done inside, that is, not by yourself, you need to rely on others in an environment which is constantly changing and shifting, this will probably be very useful in my futures job and interviews
The Company
the atmosphere in the office is absolutely amazing, it is very relaxed, friendly and open-door oriented. everyone is smiling and laughing all the time and no one seems to ever be angry or mad about anything. you could literally go around and ask info to random people and they are ready to help you whatever way they can
it was quite good, I appreciated the fact that I was not guided through my project but I needed to come up myself with something that could work, 10 weeks are not a long time to do a project of this size but I think the organization of work and activities is carried out well by the company
Quite a lot, we had several training days and I had several 1 to 1 with many people where I was explained how things work around the office and in the company, everyone is available to give you more explanations whenever you are curious about something. the overall training took up a long time compared to length of the internship

they are definitely appealing as Amex offers a broad range of opportunities, both vertically and horizontally as you can be relocated abroad quite easily and also in other departments, you are actually encouraged to do so so to gain a 360 view of the firm for the future, salary is good and work flexibility is also very good
The Culture
us interns in the office (not all of us but most) became really good friends, and the company makes sure there are possibilities to do so during the events that are spread in the 10 weeks, we did also quite several activities outside of the office that really helped build the team up
Brighton is an expensive city to live in (rent is 500 pounds, groceries are 100 pounds and other things like social events another 40-50 pounds a month) but the salary is enough to cover all this and leave something to aside for savings, so even if prices are high life is decently carried on
Brighton in summer is full of people: tourists from all over Europe and the UK come to the city to enjoy the nice weather and the night life. there are many pubs and disco cubs, concerts and events everyweek, being a student city is full of young people especially in the summer where so many come to learn english
Yes, the working hours are very flexible and everyone gives you responsibility to manage your time however you want, so there is time and opportunities (like football on Wednesdays with the office colleagues) or other activities like company networks and volunteering, besides Brighton offers basically anything you would like to do being a diverse and students city
