    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My internship at J.P Morgan was everything I thought it would be and so much more. The ten weeks I spent with this company absolutely flew by, but it was a fantastic way to realize even more so that I want a career within the FS industry but also with J.P Morgan. Banking is regularly under scrutiny within the media, but after gaining extensive oversight within this business I have realized how hard everyone works within a bank and how valuable they are to not only the industry but also the economy.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Since my interview stage for this internship I felt valued from then and throughout. From Canvas Gym bags as a welcome gift to after work drinks with your team and soft ball picnics, every single employee especially Senior remind you every day how special you are to this company and you are all responsible for the contribution and success of J.P Morgan.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My direct manager was not located on my floor, so I was incredibly worried that this would disadvantage me in my performance and mid/end point review as he wouldn't be able to see my work ethic and culture. However my day to day manager was always there to support and guide me when needed and always re-arranged their daily meetings in order to adhere to seeing me first. Both my Manager and Day to Day Manager are a complete credit to the company and my internship experience.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was fairly busy every day, sometimes it was hard as you had to wait for people to get back to you, but being in such a big organization it's always easy to find other tasks to do and reach out to your team members for other tasks they may need assistance on.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a tremendous amount of responsibility, and if anything it is what made my internship experience. I didn't feel like I had to be worried as to what I was choosing to do for my project set or if I needed to run things past my manager every time.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I study economics, so my degree is heavily focused around the financial industry, so for me when hearing discussions about banking I easily fell into the flow of conversation. I feel that it has benefited my degree as it has just made my economic awareness of our economy even stronger than before.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is exactly what I want my fulltime career to be like. Being one of the biggest companies everyone worries you as to how you will work long, tiring, stressful hours with zero fun and enjoyment. However; THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I have never in all my life been so excited to wake, get up and travel to a working environment, but for JPMorgan I did. Everyone was always so friendly and extremely upbeat, nobody ever felt in competition with each other and always supported one another. My direct team I was placed in were amazing and really networked me across the department and gave me such a broad scope of people to meet that out of all the intern friends I made along the way I had got to know the majority of the people within the department.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship set up is fantastic. The Recruitment team go above and beyond their way to support and make this the best experience. They constantly organized events and seminars which helped you get to know everyone else better and also the company better.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company / firm have invested in me hugely and provided me with the opportunity for a full-time grad program if I meet my targets at the end of the ten weeks.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Extremely appealing. JPMorgan know how important the younger generation are and invest heavily within us, offering grad scheme placements at the end if your performance meets their criteria. For full time employee's (which I hope I will one day be one) they are constantly encouraging internal promotions and job moves.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Great social scene, many events created and lead my the recruitment team as well as my department, and also the people I met along the way.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Already originally living in London I didn't notice much in the cost of living and socializing as the prices are something I am used to.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I originally live in London, so I am already highly aware of the Nightlife scene surrounding Canary Wharf.

    5/5
