Vacation scheme Review

I had a great time at Taylor Wessing and enjoyed the broad range of work, responsibility and people that I engaged with.

I felt extremely valued as a vacation schemer in the firm. I was given ample support and guidance throughout the vacation scheme from trainees to partners which was very encouraging.

I received lots of guidance during the scheme with regard to specific pieces of work and tasks and also general career guidance.

It was my first insight into the workings of a law firm and cemented my belief that I would love to work at the firm. Having recently completed my non-law degree it was great to see that I could translate my knowledge to use it during the vacation scheme and encouraged me in the belief that I would be a successful solicitor if given the opportunity.

The scheme was well planned, with ample time i the two departments I sat in to give me a true feel for them and how they differed whilst also including insight talks into all the departments in the firm that I would otherwise not have had the opportunity to gain. I was fortunate to sit with a partner in on of the departments at his behest which was extremely interesting. The socials organised after work were a great way to bond with other vacation schemers and trainees and additional opportunities such as their pro-bono work were an unexpected plus which I greatly appreciated and enjoyed.

Everyone at the firm was welcoming and open. They immediately made you feel like part of the team, including you in projects and checking up on you throughout your time there.

I believe the firm invested a lot into ensuring that the we got the most out of the vacation scheme. We spent time with many different people who all went out of their way to help us with tasks and encourage us.

I had a great insight into what it would be like to work full time at an international law firm. I was party to projects which included other Taylor Wessing branches around the world and their 'best friend' firms in different countries. Furthermore I saw how work fluctuated between the departments in different seasons and what kind of work I would expect to be doing at each stage of a deal and at each stage of my career.

I got a great feel for the unique culture at Taylor Wessing during my time there.

It solidified my belief that I wanted to work for an international law firm and that I would be suited to a role at Taylor Wessing.

I was paid adequately during the experience

There were many socials, talks and lunches which enabled me to meet any people throughout the firm. Additionally, then buddy and mentor system meant that i was in constant contact with a number of people in the department I was in.

They were great. Really enabled me to talk to a number of different people.

We were told about some of the activities and fundraising events that the firm participated in.

Yes. It was a great placement.
