Intern Review

The internship was extremely beneficial to my professional development and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was able to gain a great insight into the company’s culture and values.

I felt very valued by my colleagues. I was asked to complete tasks on a daily basis and there was always positive feedback from my line manager and colleagues.

Throughout my internship, I was given plenty of support and guidance from my supervisor, buddy (graduate surveyor) and colleagues. I was able to ask plenty of questions and was always encouraged to ask questions by staff if I did not understand something.

I usually had work to complete almost every day, however, if I had not been given work, I was able to ask any member of the team if they needed help with any tasks and they were always able to provide me with work to do.

I was given responsibility from day one and throughout the internship. I was trusted to deal with any client issues.

The skills I have developed have helped prepare me for my university course, and have also enhanced my commercial awareness.

The atmosphere in the office was good. There was usually an acceptable level of noise where you could focus on your work, but at the same time, you felt free to talk to colleagues without having to break any silence in the office.

The internship was organised superbly. The HR team did a great job from setting up social events to team challenges in the city. The first day was dedicated purely to getting to know fellow interns and learning more about the firm and the services that they provide.

The company very much invested in our development, we had lectures from various members of the firm and we were also required to take part in a group project, which we presented at the end of the internship. At the beginning of the internship, we were also asked to write down our personal goals to allow ourselves to understand what we wanted to get out of the internship. These goals were then reviewed with our line manager at the end of the internship.

Cushman & Wakefield pride themselves on offering a select number of interns a position at the firm off the back of the internship for the following year, which is extremely sought after by many. There are still good prospects if you are not successful in this instance, where you are able to apply and possibly get fast-tracked through part of the application process.

There was a very good social scene amongst fellow interns, especially when compared to other commercial property firms. This was largely helped by the HR team setting up networking and social events, which led to the interns arranging further social events.

Despite the opportunity to socialise frequently, it was very expensive to live in London.

The nightlife in the city of London was good, you were able to go out after work with colleagues if you wanted to.

There were opportunities to play for sports teams, however, this was dependent upon the season of the sport as only cricket and netball were available which is unfortunate but understandably it can't be helped.
