    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed this placement because I got to experience two complete different departments and had a hands on experience. Being able to gain a deeper understanding of two different departments has been extremely helpful for me, being in first year it can be very difficult to outline what you like and also what you don't necessarily enjoy. So having the opportunity to really gage what department you're best suited to made this experience even more enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of the colleagues in both placements made a conscious effort to make me feel welcomed. They understood that I am still a student and therefore didn't expect me to know what I was doing all the time and made it know that when in doubt I could ask questions at any time.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All of the colleagues in both placements made a conscious effort to make me feel comfortable and well supported. They understood that I am still a student and therefore they constantly checked that I was okay and didn't feel overwhelmed with all of the work that I was given. They were very supportive.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis I was relatively busy. I wouldn't describe the workload to being overwhelming but at the same time I would say that I always had something to do. A lot of the time I had to ask for extra work and didn't feel as though things where planned for me to do when joining the placement, things were made up for me to do most days.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the responsibility to plan my days and make the most out of my placement. A lot of the information was restricted and I didn't have full access to all of the systems therefore I couldn't have a lot of responsibility. Nevertheless, assuming I have full access to the systems and they had been set up prior to joining the placement I believe that I would have much more responsibility during my placement.
