    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Overall it was a good experience in a great company with a lot of insights into the workings of the business in particular and the industry more generally.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • The colleagues in the office were simply great. Everyone was always friendly and supportive and always happy to answer questions, elaborate on details or just sit down with you for a chat about what they do.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • Due to the flat hierarchy in the company, the support from more senior management is unique, however, sometimes having more senior managers as your direct line managers also means that they are hardly ever around or have time to sit down with you properly.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • The workload changed between days where there was barely any time to sit down and days where there was nothing to do. Overall, however, I'd say that it was a good balanced workload, although I could have challenged a bit harder, too, but due to the sensitive nature of a lot of the work, this might be quite difficult.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • Again, due to the sensitive nature of a lot of the work, it was not too extensive, however, at the later stages it got more and more, including emailing clients without supervision.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • Great insights into different areas of finance. Additionally, a lot of soft skills with regards to communication, organisation and sales that will definitely be useful.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The overall atmosphere was great; my team in particular, however, due to continuous changes and a bit of an unclear future in some areas of the company, there were also some negative comments.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • Very well organised with just the right mixture of a many events at the start and fewer at the end.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • Hard to quantify, however, they have definitely put in a lot of effort and resources. Towards the end it felt like they stopped caring a bit, compared to the start.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Yes, good group of people and, after organised events by HR at first, more social meetings organised by us happened, too.

    • It's London.

    • Again, it's London.

    • Quite a few, but some teams were a lot more active than others.
