    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the internship, it started off slowly but by the end I now feel like I've learnt a lot. All of the people I have worked with have made it a very enjoyable experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I definitely felt valued; they gave me important tasks and explained things in a very clear way. They also involved us in a number of social events.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always someone available to help us whenever we needed anything. I wouldn't hesitate to ask any of the managers or seniors if I had an issue.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varied massively. During my last 2 weeks I was very busy the majority of the time. However, at the start I had a couple of works with nothing to do at all.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I don't feel like I had that much responsibility but this is definitely to be expected on a 6 week internship. I had tasks which were important to the teams I worked with.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think I learn a lot of new information about tax and, in turn, finance. This will aid me with the rest of my degree and my graduate job.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a really nice atmosphere, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I felt like part of the furniture by the end.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organised at the start - we had a general induction day and then had a department specific training the following day. However, it would have been great if there would have been some work ready for us to start on from the beginning.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As I said above, they spent a few hours going through basics about tax and the computer programme they use. This will definitely be useful in the future. Also, anybody that gave me a task was happy to sit and go through the task and the client in plenty of detail.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think the graduate scheme here is a very good opportunity as employees are given time out of work to go to college and study for the ACA. I am hoping to be offered a position at the end as they spend a lot of time on the recruitment process for the internship to ensure they have people who would fit well within the firm.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was good! Lunch and an after work social were organised especially to welcome the interns and we also had other socials throughout the 6 weeks.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was an expensive area but I managed to find an airbnb a short commute away which kept living costs to a minimum.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are lots of restaurants and pubs around the office and Liverpool Street is only 10 minutes walk away so we were never short of something to do!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I think they have sports teams and other things but 6 weeks isn't really long enough to get in to that sort of thing.

    3/5
