    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • It was really good. You learn so mush more than just being at University, especially within new skills and software.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • My team were really good. They made me feel welcome and made sure I had something to do during my time. The rest of the office were really good too, lots of pizza!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • I was lucky enough to sit next to my line manager, who was always willing to help, whenever I had a problem. The rest of the team were also very helpful within my learning process, even getting a personal Revit and Dialux tutoring.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • It depended on the projects. Some days were busier than others depending on dead lines. But there's always something to do or learn.

    • I was given quite a lot of responsibility, to help on a range of projects.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • The skills I have learnt will definitely help me with my career path.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The atmosphere was great. The team were good and loved learning new skills and software. I also enjoyed testing the luminaires!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • There were enough tasks and there were lots of tutorials to learn about the new software's. There were also lunch time talks on a range of subjects, which were very informative.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • They were always making sure that I had something to do, and that I understood what I was doing. The best thing was that you were allowed to ask any question you wanted, no matter how silly and always received an answer that helped develop my learning.

    • Very, I would definitely want to work here in the future, as I know the team are great and the range of projects are fascinating.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Yes, lots of talks, food and drinks!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Cheap for me, as I was living at home during the internship. Food and drinks weren't too much with a student card!

    • Bars and restaurants are good. I already knew this as the work was in my home city.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • Yes, but I didn't have time due to writing my dissertation at the same time.
