    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was enjoyable throughout. I was provided with a variety of roles that challenged and stretched me, as well as making me feel like I made a contribution to the team. I also got to experience opportunities beyond audit during the internship which made it more enjoyable

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As an intern I felt valued due to the trust and responsibility I was given regarding the work performed. I progressively was trusted with more complex work which to me showed colleagues began valuing even more over time.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • This was one of the strongest parts of the internship. Everyone was willing to answer questions throughout, almost always in a positive and enthusiastic manner. This was key as during an internship there is a lot to learn, so having the support in place really helped

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was constantly busy throughout, always having tasks to do. If I ever finished a task early, there would always be someone else I could ask for work from. At the same time, when it felt like I had too much to do colleagues were willing to slightly reduce my workload - this meant that I never felt I had too much to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility, beyond what I had expected. This responsibility also increased over time as my ability improved. Simultaneously, people were always willing to help if I had a query related to my responsibilities. As such, the level of responsibility did not place any un-wanted stress or pressure on me.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot about audit which will help if I decide to pursue a career down this route. Beyond this, it helped with skills such as communication, for example regular client engagement. The experience will also be of use when it comes to future opportunities related to employment.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was incredibly positive, with no sense of hierarchy. This made it easy to engage with a variety of people during my 6 weeks, from fellow interns to partners. There were also regular social opportunities that you could engage with. Overall, the Cardiff office would, without doubt, be the PwC office I would recommend joining.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The structure of the internship was fantastic. From the initial training to the support and review structures within place. This meant you had a clear understanding of what was going on. At the same time, it gave me an amazing insight into the role, reflecting how well it was organised to allow this to be the case. One positive worth reiterating is that they make it clear who you can and should talk to at what time. This meant any problems could be quickly addressed.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • PwC invested alot, from providing us with coaching and equipment to spending quite a bit on the opening event.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, though sadly I was located quite far away making this difficult

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • n/a - stayed with relatives so not really representative

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As per my previous answer, was located too far from the office to experience this

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As per my previous answer, was located too far from the office to experience many of these. Yet PwC does invest into a social budget, and Cardiff itself seemed to have many activities to engage with - similar to any mid sized city

    4/5
